Useful info from previous owners

The Pond
The pond is now sufficiently mature that the fish probably do not need feeding but we do give them a handful of the fish food that we will leave here (we usually buy in much larger sacks) when the temperature gets much above 10 degrees, and it is nice to see them all. In fact, if you are working  that end of the garden they hear you and come up to be fed! The pond itself we top up in dry periods saves the butil liner looking ugly. Watch out for herons as they are regular visitors but the fish can go pretty deep to avoid them.

Deliveries
Couriers are variable – some stop on the road and leave parcels at the front door in a bin we leave there, some drive down the drive and leave almost anywhere!  Best to advise them.

Sewage
The water treatment plant needs no work on your behalf! Independent Drainage near Wimborne come twice a year to service it and now and then (every three years or so) they will advise that the sludge be removed  (they will arrange this too). Of course the plant cleans most of the effluent and it goes safely across Kate’s field.

Central Heating
Two gas bottles (out of four) are replaced when two  are empty (the red shows) by Endura Gas of Kingsteignton. They are very reliable. They do that from the road.  Consumption of the gas depends on the weather and your need for being warm and having hot water.

Electricity
We use Ecotricity.

Hedge Cutting
Farmer Lee (and son) up the road (Black Dog) cuts the hedge (but tell him what you want cut and how low, etc.) once a year if you wish. Kate leaves hers for years!

Wood Burner
The wood burner does heat the bathroom radiator and helps keep the water warm but for real hot water we use the gas boiler.

Paint Colours
Afraid we cannot remember except  for ‘ballet shoes’ for the siting room. Anyway the colours are from the Dulux range – some may have been mixed – but we got the paint from  Eekers in Crediton.

Builders
The extension was built by Andy Pike of Longdown near Exeter. The games room etc. was already a larger building when we got here but Chris Bennett trimmed it and made the patio and put in the doors. We had a falling out over these and they have bene modified by a couple of local builders/craftsmen .

Kitchen Fitters
Ashgrove of Crediton.

Bonfire
Well  we usually have the bonfire where you can see the pile of garden waste at the moment. Once a year or so but have not got  round to it for a while - the rain! It may be here when you get here…

Paint Colours
2nd bedroom - Overtly Olive (Duluxe)
Hallway - Estate Cream (F&B)
Downstairs - Stiffkey Blue (F&B)
